Cookie policy
The cookies we use and how to manage them.
In short
We use no advertising cookies and no third-party tracking. The ones strictly needed for the site to work are always set; preference and measurement cookies only if you accept them in the notice shown when you arrive. You can change your mind at any time from the button at the end of this page.
Our own cookies
- Session (sb-…-auth-token): keeps you signed in. Required if you have an account; cleared when you sign out.
- NEXT_LOCALE: remembers the language you want the guide in.
- mcg_last_cafe: in the business portal, remembers the last venue you managed so we can take you straight back to it.
Stored in your browser
Besides cookies, we keep a few things in the tab's memory (sessionStorage), which is cleared when you close it:
- mcg:filters:…: the filters you applied on the map, the listing, events or jobs, so they survive opening a venue and coming back.
- mcg_pending: the coffee shop you were saving when we asked you to sign in, so we can finish once you are back.
- mcg_sid: a random number that identifies this tab while measurement is on, so we can tell three people apart from one person clicking three times. It is not linked to you, and it is created only if you accept measurement.
Usage measurement
We count visits to venue pages, which buttons get pressed, and how long a page is actually looked at, so each coffee shop can see how its own page is doing. Time is only counted while the tab is visible and someone is actually there — a tab left open in the background adds nothing. The measurement is stored on our server without your IP address and without anything that identifies you; the only identifier involved is the tab number above, which disappears when you close the tab.
Embedded third-party services
Some parts of the site load external services that may set their own cookies when you interact with them: Mapbox maps, Stripe payments and the Shopify shop. Each is governed by its own policy.
How to manage them
You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings. If you block the necessary ones you will not be able to stay signed in, and the site may not remember your language.
